A group of Myanmar’s military junta forces defect to CNO/CNDF

Myanmar’s military soldiers and police officers with full weapons and ammunition have reportedly defected to Chin National Defense Forces (CNDF), the armed wing of Chin National Organization in September, according to a statement released by CNO/CNDF.

“An army sergeant along with a police officer from Thee Bawl Camp and an army from 268th Infantry Battalion have defected to CNO/CNDF with full of their weapons and ammunition to join civil disobedience movement (CDM). CNO/CNDF awarded them with money for defection with full arms, and relocated them to a safe location,” the statement said.

The statement added that a total of eight police officers and two soldiers have defected to CNO/CNDF within September.

CNO/CNDF is one of the Chin ethnic armed organizations formed after the military coup in February. The organization vows to end the military’s rule and support the establishment of federal democracy in Myanmar.
