A group of nine women of Kalay-PDF arrested have been sent to the notorious prison in Sagaing region

Yangon – Nine women from medical team arrested in the early morning raid at the base camp of battalion 3 of Kalay – PDF on 16 November have been reportedly sent to Mawhleih prison – a 16-mile distance from Kalay Town, spokesperson of Kalay – People Defense Force has confirmed to The Chindwin.

“The entire group of nine women from the medical team has been sent to the Mawleih prison camp. They are not allowed to be met by their families nor to get connected with them over the telephone, adding that many soldiers have contacted Kalay – PDF for defection, yet the Kalay – PDF requests them to come along with the weapons – which apparently makes them hard to come to us,” he said.

At the early morning raid by Myanmars’ junta troops believed to be guided by the military informant known as Dalaan in Burmese on 16 November, the junta troops had killed three comrades, including a 23 years-old female.

Mawhleih detention camp is a notorious prison and those who are sent to the camp are usually sentenced by the military court with hard-labor under the military rule.

Locals are concerned for their wellbeing as extreme measure of interrogation might be exercised against the female group.
