A pregnant woman has been beaten to death by the Myanmar police forces in Maubin township

A pregnant woman was beaten to death by the Myanmar police forces in Maubin township, Ayeyarwady region, on 12 November.

The police forces reportedly beat and tortured a pregnant woman named Daw Tin Lin Maw to death, on suspicion of stealing, according to the local source.

Daw Tin Lin Maw worked as a housekeeper at the home of the deputy director of GAD in Maubin township and was arrested on 9 November along with her husband on suspicion of stealing missing gold and other belongings while doing housekeeping work.

Daw Tin Lin Maw and her husband were brought to the police station and subsequently tortured by the police forces, according to Khit Thit Media.

“The woman was beaten by polices at the police station. Her whole body was seen badly swollen resulting from tortures,” a local said.

“Although released later, her husband was also brutally tortured as his whole body was covered with bruises from police’s torture,” the local continued.

The funeral service of Daw Tin Lin Maw, a pregnant woman, was held on 12 November.
