An economic disaster is looming as the military junta repeats the same economic policy that led Myanmar to become the poorest nation

Yangon (Chindwin): The coup leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, was boastful of a boost in trade surplus for the second quarter of the year. The junta leader also that there were large trade deficits in the previous democratic government, which means – National League for Democracy (NLD). 

But he strongly managed to increase surplus.

“He had effectively controlled the importation of some non-essential goods and only allowed necessary goods to be imported and reaching the trade surplus to the US $1,140 million under my leadership,” the junta leader said during the junta’s State Administrative Council meeting on Friday. 

The junta leader’s comment on blocking the imports has reaffirmed the same economic policy implemented by former military dictator Ne Win whose economic policy blocked imports and forced citizen to buy products at high cost.

That ultimately led the pariad nation to become one of the poorest nations on earth.

The self-proclaimed leader made this comment during a regular monthly meeting of the junta’s State Administrative Council in Nay Pyi Taw.
