China vows to work with Myanmar junta and lends the junta 650 million RMB

Chindwin (Yangon): Chinse State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi welcomes Myanmar military-appointed Foreign Minister Wunna Maung Lwin in Tunxi, east China’s Anhui Province, according to China’s official Xinhua News agency.

During the meeting, Mr Wang reaffirmed Chin’s readiness to work with Myanmar junta to deepen exchanges and cooperation in all areas and accelerate the implementation of the China – Myanmar Economic Corridor (CMEC).

To the opponents of Myanmar junta, inviting Myanmar junta’s foreign minister to China shows China is openly cooperating with the junta administration and supporting its murderous campaign against its own people.

The two countries – China and Myanmar junta oppose unilateral sanctions on Ukraine and Myanmar.

China has openly supported Myanmar junta as coordinator for the China – ASEAN partnership, with the junta helping China on South China sea. This is a sign of another iron-clad support to the military junta of Myanmar – not the people of Myanmar.

It reported that China has opened a new junta Consulate office in Chongqing, which is not needed at all at this time.

Jason Tower, a country director of Myanmar for United States Institute of Peace (USIP) says China also lends Myanmar junta 650 million RMB as part of an economic and technical cooperation agreement.

For the pro-democracy activists, it is feared that the China’s money will be used in the junta’s annihilation campaign against civilian resistance forces.

China’s dramatic engagement with Myanmar military is a slap in the face for the people of Myanmar who oppose the military rule.
