30 September 2022

A five-year-old boy was killed by a landmine planted by the junta army in front of the family’s house in Kyaukkhuat village, located in the north of Myaing township of Magway region in Myanmar.

The incident was reported to have occurred at about 12:00 pm today, and the boy was rushed to the closest hospital in the region but proclaimed dead at 3:00 pm.

The boy was known as Ko San (aka) Maung San Wai Yan and hit by a landmine today when the family returned to the village from their hiding in the woods.

All villagers fled the village on 25 September as the junta troops stormed the village and clashed with local resistance force in which locals reported that two junta soldiers were killed.

The family’s home was once burned to the ground by the junta army in July when the junta army launched an operation in the region, and a new home was rebuilt.

Now is the second time the family had to flee the village this month. But this time, their beloved son was killed by a landmine of the junta army, We Love Myaing reported.
