Military junta’s forces are reportedly stealing from houses left behind by residents due to ongoing armed clashes in ethnic areas.
A military truck carrying properties stolen from villages, including 6-miles, Aung Tha Pyay, Wan La Htwa, other three villages, in Demoso Township, Kayah State are reported seen on the evening of 22 September, according to the local source.
“Properties stolen by the junta’s forces include motorbikes and other valuable items such as television sets (TVs), food items, and others,” reported News Light in Karrenni on its Facebook page.
The Myanmar junta’s forces have a longstanding bad reputation of stealing, looting, and robing civilians’ properties in ethnic war-torn regions.
Villages in Demoso Township suffer constant raids from the junta’s forces as fightings between a newly formed Karen Nationalities Defense Forces (KNDF) and the junta’s troops have escalated following February’s coup.
An estimated 100,000 Karrenni people, more than a third of the State’s population, have reportedly fled their homes due to the ongoing conflicts, according to Myanmar Now’s report.
