An arms production unit (MTT Production) of the Local People’s Defense Force (PDF) has confirmed that they have successfully developed 60mm long-range mortar.
MTT Production is an arms production unit formed by the Local People’s Defense Force (PDF) as part of the armed struggle for democracy.
“Yes, we have successfully developed it. It took us about a month. We faced many obstacles along the way, including difficulties to get raw materials and transportation,” said a source from MTT Production.
A comrade of MTT Production was killed and another comrade lost two fingers during their weapon test.
According to the MTT Production, the mortar was first tested in August and carried out further technical development in October, and it has been used by the LPDF at least four times in battles against the Myanmar junta forces.
The group also reported that they are working on upgrading their weapons technology and have also produced more than 100 mines, apart from 60mm long-range.
In recent days, local People’s Defense Forces in Sagaing Region have developed several weapons, including landmines and other homemade guns. For example, the People’s Defense Force – Kani developed water mines and sank a military ship near Mae Din village in Kani township.
