Myanmar military forces reportedly dropped propaganda leaflets and flyers from helicopters in stronghold areas and townships of the people’s defense forces (PDF) in Sagaing region.
“The military forces dropped propaganda leaflets and flyers for 2 hours from helicopters in PDF’s stronghold areas of northern Kani township, Sagaing region,” reported a source from PDF-Yinmarbin.
“It would have been better if they come and hand out those propaganda leaflets and flyers to locals in person, rather than being cowardly dropped from helicopters,” a local PDF source continued.
Locals in Kani township had also confirmed witnessing those propaganda leaflets and flyers dropped by the junta forces from helicopters.
“We have witnessed terrible crimes and atrocities the military forces have committed against civilians. They raided villages, looted houses, killed civilians, including children, women, and people with disabilities. They have also destroyed many villages, left hundreds of families without a home, and forced them to flee into hiding. So, these propaganda leaflets and flyers are nothing but wastes,” a local in Kani said.
The military junta forces suffered heavy casualties and losses in clashes with local PDFs in townships, including Kani, Tabayin, Yinmarbin, Pinlebu, Katha, Kawlin, Chaung-U, and Ye-U of Sagaing region.
In retaliation, the junta forces have carried out a mass killing of civilians and arson attacks on local villages, razing houses to the grounds and forcing thousands of villagers to flee their homes.
