Myanmar military blames KNPP over the shooting of the Myanmar National Airway in Loikaw

The junta regime put the blame on the ethnic Karenni Armed group for the shooting of Myanmar National Airway (MNA) near Loikaw airport.

(Chindwin): Myanmar National Airway, with flight no. XY-AML was shot and hit today, resulting in a passenger, who is said to be the junta’s sergeant, being injured as bullet penetrated the aeroplane and hit a passenger.

According to General Zaw Min Tun, spokesperson of the junta military regime, KNPP’s force had fired on the MNA flight when the aeroplane was approaching to land at Loikaw airport at around 8:45 am this morning.

Karenni Nationalities Defense Force and Karenni Army do not issue a statement responding to the junta regime’s allegation accusing the Karenni Defense Forces of being responsible for shooting the passenger flight that flew from Yangon to Nay Pyi Taw through Loikaw as a transit.

The junta regime says the MNA’s XY-AML flight carried 60 passengers.

Myanmar National Airway also confirms the route to Loikaw is indefinitely closed off for security reason after this incident.

There is a conspiracy theory being debated on social media as the person being hit on the face by the bullet is identified as sergeant Thein Soe Nyunt seated at the front side on no. 16. The shooting, some people, is believed to be at the hands of the junta security and used this event as bait to put the blame on local People Defense Force in the town.

Other reports suggested the junta army’s artillery base in Loikaw also fired two times after hearing a gunshot near the Loikaw airport.
