Myanmar soldiers and polices with full weapons and ammunitions have reportedly defected to Chin National Defense Forces (CNDF), the armed wing of Chin National Organization in September, according to statement released by CNO/CNDF on 01 October.
“An army sergeant along with a police officer from Thee Bawl Camp and an army from 268th Infantry Battalion have defected to CNO/CNDF with full of their weapons and ammunitions to join civil disobedient movement (CDM). CNO/CNDF awarded them money for defection with full arms and escorted them to safe location,” the statement said.
A total of eight polices and two soldiers have defected to CNO/CNDF within September, the statement added.
Similarly, five soldiers from battalion no. 222 defected to Chinland Defense Forces – Senthang with two weapons of MA1and ammunition. Chinland Defense Forces – Senthang added that they rewarded those who defected to them with weapons as promised.
Chinland Defense Force and CNDF are one of the Chin ethnic armed organizations formed after the military coup in February. The organization vows to end military’s rule and support establishment of federal democracy in Myanmar.
