The military convoy with three trucks carrying around 100 soldiers and some supplies has been attacked near Namati Town, Kachin State.
According to the local news outlet, Kachin News Group, the attack on the military convoy was carried out by KIA (Kachin Independent Army) at 11:30 am (Myanmar Time) today. An IED (Improvised Explosive Devices) was allegedly used in this attack.
According to one local witness, a military convoy with three trucks carrying around 100 soldiers and other supplies came from Myitkyina last week. The convoy is heading to Tanai Town – where several armed clashes occurred recently between Myanmar’s military and KIA.
The clash took place between Maran Kataung village and Makawk Zut village. The military council’s soldiers reportedly jumped off the trucks and ran into jungles following the two consecutive explosions.
Then the soldiers indiscriminately fired around the area using artillery.
The convoy was reported to have returned to Moguang carrying the injured with no success of reaching their destination while the troop was marching towards Lwa village on foot.
No accurate casualties have been confirmed yet.
