National League for Democracy (NLD) appeals to the U.N and western countries for urgent assistance

Yangon (Chindwin): National League for Democracy (NLD) has issued a scathing statement over the junta regime’s jailing Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in Nay Pyi Taw detention centre, condemning the junta regime’s action imprisoning the State Counselor in a fetid detention centre as a stigma on the international stage beyond Myanmar.

The NLD says it condemns the junta regime’s actions in the strongest term, and the junta regime must uphold Article 3 of the Universal Human Rights Declaration.

Sending to a squalid detention cell where clean water is not accessible, plenty of mosquitos, no proper bed and toilet, no clear air, clean and proper food is not provided, and a place filled with putridness is an intentional tactic of the junta regime in putting the state leader at risk.

The NLD appeals to the United Nations and western nations to step up and provide urgent assistance in efforts to release all political prisoners, including State Counselor without exception, the statement reads.
