Yangon – The photos of Myanmar’s coup leader being gifted with hand-embroidery shawl by leaders of Hindu’s organization in a meeting inclusive with leaders from Muslim and Christianity, on 06 December.
In the meeting, the coup leader was given an honour with a Hindu’s hand-embroidery shawl by one of the leaders from a Hindu organization who is seen bowing his head with his palms pressed together.
The photos captured via MRTV have sent a frenzy on the internet, with the group who attended the meeting receiving massive backlash and condemnation from people around the world – particularly Burmese people.
The photos immediately prompt the Hindu Organization issues statement, saying that the attendees from Hindu organizations do not represent the Hindu organization but acted in self-interest.
Amidst the renewed public uproar raging the country after Myanmar’s junta rammed over peaceful protesters, killing five and arresting more than 15, Myanmar’s coup leader is said to have had a meeting with religious leaders in Yangon on 06 December.
The meeting was aired by the military junta’s propaganda TV known as MRTV.
A senior political analyst, who remains in the country and does not want his name to be mentioned, contacted by Chindwin comments on the meeting, saying, “this is just a pure attempt of the military junta to re-utilize the “divide and conquer” strategy after the multi-faceted unconventional war has pounded military”.
