Students and teachers arrested by Myanmar’s junta forces in Yinmarbin Township

Yangon – Myanmar’s junta forces have reportedly arrested over a hundred civilians, including ninety students and ten teachers in Chin Pone village of Yinmarbin Township on February 27.

“The terrorist junta troops arrested a total of 90 students, including a 2-year-old toddler, and ten teachers from Min Ywar and Chin Pone villages who were having classes in a Monastery School in Chin Pone village on February 27,” according to a spokesperson of the Chindwin Yoma Alliance.

“The junta’s fighter jets carried out airstrikes and dropped bombs from the North and Northwest of the Chin Pone village. Students and teachers hid in the monastery as they were unable to escape. The junta’s troops surrounded the monastery and arrested all of them, including a 2-year-old toddle. The junta’s troops also threatened villagers who fled the village to burn down all houses and kill those they have arrested unless they return homes,” added the spokesperson of the Chindwin Yoma Alliance.

The junta troops also captured twenty members of the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Chin Pone village on February 20.

According to locals, the junta’s troops raided and captured twenty PDF members in Chin Pone village on February 26 and killed two PDF leaders.

The Myanmar military junta forces have indiscriminately arrested, tortured, and killed thousands of civilians, including many children and women.
