The junta army’s artillery kills a mother and daughter at IDPs camp in the northern Shan state of Myanmar

Chindwin (Yangon): The junta army’s artillery is reported to have intentionally shelled against Zup Aung IDP camp at 10:15 am on Friday, killing two people and badly injuring an older man in Kutkai township in northern Shan state.

The victims are known as Daw Nan Lai, aged 56 and her daughter Daw Naw aged 29, who are confirmed killed at the scene where the artillery is landed on 17 June 2022. Also, an older man, U La Aung, aged 82, is badly injured in both legs.

The junta army’s Light Infantry Battalion – 242 is responsible for shelling the artillery Zup Aung IDP camp.

Zup Aung IDP camp was established during the rising conflict in northern Shan state in 2013 and currently houses more than 240 households seeking shelter.
