Thousands are displaced by the ongoing war between the junta army and Arakan Army in western state of Myanmar

(YANGON): The ongoing fighting between the junta army and Arakan Army in the Rathedaung area of Rakhine state has displaced thousands as villagers are fleeing their homes and seeking safer villagers and towns nearby the region.

Most people from Mangyin village tracts in Rathedaung township are affected by the war as artillery shelling and heavy weapons being used by both sides – Arakan Army and the junta army, forcing the villagers around the area to flee their homes, local media – Narinjara has reported.

These newly displaced people are in need of food, blankets for sleeping and other essentials, as hundreds of children are said to be among the IDPs.

In Rathedaung, the junta army deployed Light Infantry Battalion – 538 and its artillery unit and the town is not too far from the capital of the Rakhine state.
