Tighten grip: Myanmar military’s confiscation campaign goes in full force

Yangon – Myanmar military council has confiscated and closed the houses of three Parliamentarian Members (MP) from the National League for Democracy (NLD) in Pakokku Town, Magway region, local media reported. 

On 11 November, a team of around 20 strong men of the military council came to the houses of Daw Zin Ni Ni Win – Regional Representative for Magway region living at 4 Block on Nethuring Road, U Pai Ko – Representative for Lower House and NLD Chairman for the township at 8 block, and U Thet Kyu – Representative of Lower House at 11 Block in Pakoku Town, a local person with direct knowledge on the matter confirmed this.

They were not at home at the time of their raid, and they have been reportedly in the hiding.

Zin Ni Ni Win became regional presentative in 2015 and winner of the 2020 November election for the same constituency. U Pai also serves as representative for the Lower House since 2015, and he has maintained his seat at last year election. 

U Thet Kyu is known to be new elected official at the town becoming a new representative for Lower House by winning the 2020 election.
