Urgent calls for humanitarian aid for more than 30,000 people displaced by the ongoing war in Kawlin, Kanbalu and Kyunthla regions in northwest Myanmar

30 August 2022

Over thirty thousand people internally displaced in the three townships of Sagaing urgently need an emergency response.

Chindwin learns that a group of people helping the IDPs in the three townships of KawLin, Kanbalu, and Kyun Hla are desperately in need of food, medicine, clothing and rain cover for shelter.

“The increase in the number of IDPs was the impact of the intensified Junta’s indiscriminate assault on the people since 23 August by bombing by air and storming and burning towns and villages one after another around these regions,” said the KNG member who is helping the IDPs.

“Now the new IDPs are taking shelter under the makeshift tent. Some of them got injured during the junta army’s airstrikes and shelling, and those people needed immediate medical attention. Also, there are food shortages.

Most of them just fled away for their safety. They also need basic clothing”, said one of the Dawngsiidae members helping the IDPs.

“Currently, the Dawngsiidae group is providing help to more than ten thousand IDPs as more donation is needed as the number of IDPs is increasing days after days,” he told a local media.
