The junta takes family as hostage and arrests civilians in Kalamyo, Sagaing region

Yangon (Chindwin): Myanmar junta security forces have reportedly arrested several people in Kalamyo, located on the border with Chin State in the northwest of the country. 

In broad daylight, the junta security force has arrested U Okka from Myo Ma block on 18 April, whereas Zaw Htay from No. 2 Aungmingalar block and Ngiang Do Ting from No. 5 Ngiang Pin Thar block are, respectively, on the afternoon of 19 April. 

Voice of Kalay – a local news outlet in Kalaymyo has reported that the Myanmar junta accused them of being members of the local People Defense Force.

Locals who spoke to Chindwin on a condition of anonymity said,” the junta has been arresting many people, and they accuse them of being members of People Defense Force – Kalay or whatever they want. It is a normal business for the junta.” 

The junta is also taking family as a hostage as the junta could not arrest the people they want to arrest.  

The junta continues to arrest all of the family although the person they are seeking to surrender to the junta.
