Aung San Suu Kyi is sent to a new facility of detention – a cell believed to be built in the isolated woods in Nay Pyi Taw

Yangon (Chindwin) : Spending time of birth for the last two years in a cell vs a facility heavily guarded by security in the military zone, the State Counsellor has been transferred to a new facility of detention, specially designed and built for her in Nay Pyi Taw, a credible source from the military has confirmed on Wednesday to RFA Burmese. 

A new cell is believed to be a compound close to or within the military detention centre. Still, it is confirmed that the building is specially designed and built for multipurpose in some sort of area in the isolated woods. However, the junta’s State Administrative Council (SAC) says it is built for security reason. 

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is slated to appear at the Zambu Thiri court today in the Nay Pyi Taw military zone, according to sources from legal environment. 

Since her arrest following the coup on 01 February 2021, the State Counsellor has appeared several times at the Zambu Thiri court located within the military zone and a location close enough to the residence of coup leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. 

The daughter of Myanmar hero General Aung San is facing 19 of criminal charges systematically laid upon by the junta regime after the regime seized power in February 2021, with which she was sentenced to 11 years jail time for six charges. 

She is yet to face another 13 charges, which could take months or years to have the military’s judges make the sentence. 

So far, the military regime remains secretive on the matter of where Aung San Suu Kyi is kept.

National Unity Government does not issue statement relating to the transfer of State Counsellor to a new detention cell.
